Unfortunately I dont have much to report on the current offers for my paperclip swap challenge. I currently have the website promotion package. I am in discussion with 3 pretty big organisations but I think they are scared to put offers in writing in case I hold them to it or something haha. As soon as I have something concrete I will let you all know. If you yourself want to swap for a promoted website on the search engines keyword search then give me a call or drop me an email.

I am sad to see it go but the swap for the porsche has been agreed. Like I said I have swapped the porsche for a piece of paper!

On this piece of paper is an agreement from Nathan at http://www.intelligentlinks.co.uk/ and he has offered a cool £6000 worth of web promotion! This involves either building you a website and spending a few thousand promoting it so that it reaches higher up in a search engine's results such as google or alternatively they will put £6000 into the promotion of your website so that it reaches page 1 in a google search. If anyone has ever used a search engine then you are aware most of the time you never look past the first page of the results.

What Nathan will do is for 5 keywords that you choose his team will make sure your website is found in the first page of a google search!! So if you type in "Pizza" your pizza company could be there, if you typed in "paperclip swap" your paperclip swapping company could be there! I think you get the point.

So if you are a large company, small company or a person who just wants everyone to find their website then get in touch and make me an offer!

Unfortunately the porsche was not quite ready for the trade and Toby the porsche man has gone on holiday until the 20th July. We have shaken on the deal though and nothing is more concrete in negociations than the trusty handshake!

Meeting the Inspiration

Yesterday was an awesome day for my paperclip challenge. The whole reason I started my paperclip swap journey was because Canadian "One Red Paperclip Guy" Kyle Macdonald succesfully traded up from a paperclip to a house. If someone else had already done it then why couldnt I follow suit. Kyle has written about his adventures in a book called "One Red Paperclip" it is a brilliant read if you fancy getting a kick up the backside and realising any dreams you have. Well when I found out Kyle was going to be in the UK to promote his book I thought I had to make an effort to meet up. I emailed him to let him know what I was doing and to see if he was interested in hooking up. "Canal boats huh, that sounds fun!" I trecked down to London and we met outside Virgin Megastore in Picadilly. He gave me a copy of his book in return for me sending him a comedy hat to his new house. A group of us then went out for a few beers, had some food and discussed the whole paperclip phenomenon that he had started. I have been given some great advice from the master himself, so how can my mission fail now?? It cant!! The two of us have been interviewed in a couple of newspapers and we are set to be on BBC Northampton tomorrow about 5.30 if anyone fancies a listen? Here is a photo of us two - its supposed to show the trade we made but I didnt have the hat with me so Kyle just held up his shoe! Cheers Kyle, when I get my boat I might take it across the Atlantic to Canada........ haha should only take a few years!

Speedboat Update

Hi all I have some more information for you on the speedboat: The engine is a 40hp Archimedes and works fine. The boat requires a new battery and fuel tank. The two front seats are not bolted down also. Other than that she is good to go! She comes complete with the trailer than you can see in the picture and also a waterproof cover and a security lock for the trailer as well. Hi Guys Sorry I have been away from my little paperclip swap project for so long. Its officially back on track again though, my story has just been published in the Northampton Chronicle and Echo: http://www.northamptonchronicleecho.co.uk/ViewArticle.aspx?SectionID=255&articleid=2915744 The story was also covered on Northants radio! There is also a possibility of ITV East Anglia news covering the story and I have been approached by a newspaper for narrowboat users called "Towpath Talks" who may wish to do an article as well. Hopefully with all the publicity my target could get ever closer!! Keep an eye on the offers as they come in!

Sorry its taken so long! Been a busy few months for me.... a new job, then another new job then got engaged to Sian, got another job and now we have bought a house! Not had a lot of time to commit to my little project but its officially back on track again now! I have traded the plane today for a Suzuki Royal 600 CC Sports Motorbike! I havent got much information on the bike as I know absolutely nothing about them. Got a friend coming up to have look at it in the next few days so I will update very soon. Ok Trade 6 - P51 Mustang Candyman Plane Im very excited about this one. I like toys and gadgets and this thing is a beauty! I was shocked when I saw how big this plane was. I have an estate car and it nearly wouldnt fit in the back because of the wing span. Im not a plane enthusiast myself so bear with me on the spec for the plane etc but here we go! Wing Span : 57.5 in / 1460 mm Wing Area : 585 sq in / 37.4 sq dm Flying Weight : 6.0 lbs / 2700 g Fuselage Length : 49.5 in / 1260 mm Engine Required : 2-stroke 0.4 - 0.46 or 4-stroke 0.6 - 0.7 Radio Required: 5 Channels, 6 heavy-duty servos I traded with a guy called Andie that spent 2 and a half years building this baby and has flown it once to make sure he did a good job. Andie has built dozens of planes and is building another one already. He's addicted! The plane comes with all this too: Starter, Charger, 6 Channel radio Gear with all servos. Also has retrack servo for landing gear, Has all associated batteries for plane servos and remote, plus the charger for that as well. The plane will hit speeds of about 150 miles per hour but with the spare 0.6 engine (that cost about £200 no less) the plane should reach speeds of well over 200 mph. This is a serious remote plane folks. Its had well in excess of £750 spent on it to get it to this beautiful state so let me know what you got to offer.

Sean Butler - Read this and weap!

I had a few offers for the golf bag. I was offered a picnic set with a combined table and seating thing. I then had a mocking offer of some leaves from Sean Butler! (a friend from my running club) I dont think he quite believes in my quest???!! But fortunately I had the courage to hold out on the leafy offer and instead I have just made a trade for a multi gym!! I made my best trade so far with a woman called Fran from Wootton Road Runners. She was given the multi gym herself by a guy who likes golf. The gym was taking up too much room so she wanted to get rid of it, the golf bag was perfect because she gets to give a gift to the person who gave the gym to her in the first place. Thats what I love about this swapping malarky.... everyone gets happy! Right so on with this item. Its a massive... and I mean massive multi gym. It took two trips to dismantle and get the thing away. It has all sorts of facilities and loads of pulleys all over the place! Your best bet is to have a look at the picture and see if you like it. Trade 1 completed - I have swapped the paper clip for a beautiful bouncy ball! I swapped with a guy from Pennsylvania called Joey Slayer. Top man! As you can see I am willing to trade anywhere in the world with anyone in the world. It was a lovely bouncy ball but it was not quite a canal boat! Therefore it was up for grabs!
